Baltic States
Baltic countries are traditionally considered to be a favorite recreation center for the Europeans. Neatness and cleanliness of the Baltic resorts, well-developed tourist network, many hotels and spa resorts make recreation in the Baltic useful for body and soul. Most popular Baltic resorts are: Druskininkai (health resort), and also Palanga and Jurmala (the Baltic Sea resorts).
The capitals of the three Baltic states, Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn, are also popular and beloved among the tourists. The name of the region Baltic, which is widely used in Russia and other CIS states, within the Baltic states is interpreted ambiguously. Many Latvians, Lithuanians and Estonians consider it to be a reversion to the communist era. It is also still widely used as a tourist brand that is well-known to «Slavic neighbors»: Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.
Many Lithuanian and Latvian travel agencies, which promote their products to these markets, actively use the word Baltic in their brochures and guidebooks. Recreations in the Baltic, or tours to the Baltic countries, are still associated by many tourists only with these three states: Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
One way or another, tourists are always welcomed here. Baltic countries offer many opportunities for different types of recreation. Baltic can offer you fishing on the Neman, rest on the Baltic Sea, a lot of interesting excursions through the border reserves of Lithuania and Estonian islands, the architectural wealth of Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, Kaunas and other cities. Over the last decade, the Baltic countries are in steady demand among the British, Germans, Russians and Belarusians. And if the first come here in the first place to occupy numerous bars of the three Baltic capitals, the Belarusian and Russian tourists come here have a rest at the seaside in Neringa, Jurmala, Palanga, and in health resorts of Birstonas and Druskininkai.

Holidays in Bulgaria: visa-free regime for Schengen owners
The Bulgarian government decided to simplify for many tourists the procedure of entering the country. From now on all people with a valid Schengen visa can go on holiday to Bulgaria without national visa. In such way Bulgaria is preparing its structures for the upcoming country’s entry into the visa-free regime, which today functions between the EU countries.
The decision to introduce new visa rules was taken by the Bulgarian cabinet of ministers on Wednesday January 26, 2011. According to the Bulgarian cabinet, the new visa policy will spur the tourist interest and will make Bulgaria more attractive to foreign investors.
Schengen visa owners will be able to get permission to enter Bulgaria and stay on its territory for a period of up to 3 months during the six months from the date of first entry.
It should be noted that the new visa rules in Bulgaria will be useful not only for the EU citizens, but also tourists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, who have a Schengen visa.
New measures, inter alia, must stir up not only the tourism sector, but also resort property market in Bulgaria. Since the beginning of the financial crisis in 2008 leading Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria have marked decreasing of the square meter price. Opportunity to visit the country for Schengen owners will facilitate entry of potential buyers and will indirectly stimulate the demand for Bulgarian property.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, in 2011 its consulates issued in total 733 623 visas, which is by 18% more than in 2010.
