Gomel

Gomel is the second largest city in Belarus, the administrative center of the Gomel region. The year of foundation of Gomel is considered to be the date of 1142, the first written mention of Gomel. However, it is mentioned in the chronicles under a slightly different name - «Gomiy». Gomel is located in a picturesque location on the banks of the river Sozh.

Gomel today is a large industrial and cultural center in the south-east of Belarus. There are a number of important sites, the most interesting among which is considered to be the Palace and Park ensemble, founded in 18 the century.

In the number and diversity of festivals and contests held in Gomel the city upon Sozh isn’t inferior to Minsk. Among the most curious events of the city that are worth visiting is the festival of street art, where a competition for the best graffiti is held. Then the embankment in the center of Gomel has been fully painted by street artists.

There are several hotels in Gomel. Unfortunately, none of them fully meets the European standards of comfort and service. Perhaps, the best in Gomel will be to stay in the hotel «Gomel», the most comfortable and cozy.
