Destination Belarus
During the last few years Belarus recognized by many in the world only through the prism of the news reports, telling mainly about the President of the Republic Aleksandr Lukashenko. Now, few people recognize Belarus separately from the political context. At the same time it is rather difficult for Western tourists to find information about Belarusian culture, history and just the objective realities.
Belarus have always played an important role in the life of Europe, as a key area at the intersection of East and West. And today, this country is still one of the main corridors сonnecting Europe and Russia.
Though having excellent opportunities for the development of incoming business and entertainment tourism, Belarus has not realized this potential. Governmental policy in the field of tourism seems to seek the ways to attract foreigners to the country, but in fact it is quite contrary. The high prices in hotels, almost no private hotels in major cities, negligible (compared to neighboring Kiev and Moscow) number of restaurants and cafes in the capital of Belarus, Minsk and in regional centers - all this suggests that tourism in Belarus is still far from the level of neighboring Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.
On the whole, Belarus is a quiet corner of Europe, which is sometimes compared with a «sleepy kingdom». The life here is running slowly and measured. And many people like it. However, the «sleepy kingdom» should also have its own specific features. And they are. And some of them are very unusual and amazing for an unprepared foreigner.
So, for those who are going to visit Belarus, in the section The purpose of the tour to Belarus, we will try to tell you about some of the features of recreation and traveling to this country. How to get a visa, where is the best place to buy tickets, how much does it cost to drive a taxi - in general, anything that might be interesting to the modern tourist is listed here.

Holidays in Bulgaria: visa-free regime for Schengen owners
The Bulgarian government decided to simplify for many tourists the procedure of entering the country. From now on all people with a valid Schengen visa can go on holiday to Bulgaria without national visa. In such way Bulgaria is preparing its structures for the upcoming country’s entry into the visa-free regime, which today functions between the EU countries.
The decision to introduce new visa rules was taken by the Bulgarian cabinet of ministers on Wednesday January 26, 2011. According to the Bulgarian cabinet, the new visa policy will spur the tourist interest and will make Bulgaria more attractive to foreign investors.
Schengen visa owners will be able to get permission to enter Bulgaria and stay on its territory for a period of up to 3 months during the six months from the date of first entry.
It should be noted that the new visa rules in Bulgaria will be useful not only for the EU citizens, but also tourists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, who have a Schengen visa.
New measures, inter alia, must stir up not only the tourism sector, but also resort property market in Bulgaria. Since the beginning of the financial crisis in 2008 leading Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria have marked decreasing of the square meter price. Opportunity to visit the country for Schengen owners will facilitate entry of potential buyers and will indirectly stimulate the demand for Bulgarian property.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, in 2011 its consulates issued in total 733 623 visas, which is by 18% more than in 2010.
