Macedonia
After the dissolution of Yugoslavia Macedonia gained its full independence and became one of the countries of «Balkan tourist constellation». This constellation also includes Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Slovenia.
In contrast to its former neighbors Macedonia is landlocked and can not boast of the luxurious beaches of the Adriatic. Macedonia is a country of mountains and rivers. But we can not say that this beautiful country is boring for the tourists.
In Macedonia preserved a great number of monuments of different eras, and the local nature, especially rivers and forests, provide an opportunity for mental relaxation.
The capital of Macedonia is Skopje. Skopje is known since the Roman Empire. However, unfortunately, during the existence the city hasn’t managed to accumulate much interesting things. The devastating earthquake of 1963 leveled more than half of Skopje to the ground. So there is only a couple of ancient streets in the center of the city. Architecture of today’s Skopje is an eclectic pile of ultra-modern buildings mingled with the ruins of the old city.
Fishing is very popular in Macedonia. Local reservoirs attract by the abundance of fish and the beauty of the nature. The most beautiful of them is the Ohrid Lake. It is, however, better known not as a fishing area, but as one of the best Macedonian resorts. Local sanatoriums earned the reputation of one of the best in the Balkans, and the lake itself, the status of protected areas and one of the cleanest lakes in Europe.
The city Ohrid located on the shores of the lake is full of attractions. First of all, they are the ancient fortress of Samuel and many Christian and Islamic religious buildings: churches, mosques and basilicas. Ohrid and the Lake Ohrid are included in the UNESCO's World Heritage List.

From now on all people with a valid Schengen visa can go on holiday to Bulgaria without national visa. In such way Bulgaria is preparing its structures for the upcoming country’s entry into the visa-free regime, which today functions between the EU countries.
The decision to introduce new visa rules was taken by the Bulgarian cabinet of ministers on Wednesday January 26, 2011. According to the Bulgarian cabinet, the new visa policy will spur the tourist interest and will make Bulgaria more attractive to foreign investors.
Schengen visa owners will be able to get permission to enter Bulgaria and stay on its territory for a period of up to 3 months during the six months from the date of first entry.
It should be noted that the new visa rules in Bulgaria will be useful not only for the EU citizens, but also tourists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, who have a Schengen visa.
New measures, inter alia, must stir up not only the tourism sector, but also resort property market in Bulgaria. Since the beginning of the financial crisis in 2008 leading Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria have marked decreasing of the square meter price. Opportunity to visit the country for Schengen owners will facilitate entry of potential buyers and will indirectly stimulate the demand for Bulgarian property.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, in 2011 its consulates issued in total 733 623 visas, which is by 18% more than in 2010.
