Russia

Russia is the only country in the world which can offer on its territory such variety of options for recreation. Extreme tours to the North Pole, conquest of Siberia, the Volga River cruises, or simply rest on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus. In Russia you can find entertainment for all tastes.

In this section you will find detailed information about Russian cities, interesting and popular places, transport, and about cruises and travel routes, both well- known, and entirely new. Here we tried to collect a wide range of useful information about travel and recreation in Russia.

Russia, with its immense open spaces, could become an inexhaustible source for a curious traveler. Meanwhile, tourists from Europe and the U.S. come here to look at Moscow, to make an excursion around St. Petersburg, or to travel along the famous Trans-Siberian Railway. By the way, the tour along the Trans-Siberian Railway is still almost the maximum peak, the aim of the whole life, and Olympus for the foreign travelers.

In light of the increased popularity of eco-tourism, an interest to such regions of the Russian Federation as Altai and Baikal is growing. If earlier trips to these lands were made mainly by experienced travelers, now to the same resorts of Altai come people from all over the world. According to all researches, Altai is one of the most environmentally friendly places in the world.

However, tourist infrastructure in Russia is still developing and is not yet able to fully meet the needs of Western tourists. Therefore, a trip to Russia alone still discourages many tourists from Western Europe. Nevertheless, the events of recent years show that tourism in Russia in the near future will become one of the most popular destinations among tourists from all over the world. For example, in 2008 Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium has been home to the final match of the UEFA Champions League. And 2014 promises to become a breakthrough for the whole Russian tourism. This year in Sochi, for the first time in its history, Russia will host Winter Olympics.

Holidays in Bulgaria: visa-free regime for Schengen owners
The Bulgarian government decided to simplify for many tourists the procedure of entering the country. From now on all people with a valid Schengen visa can go on holiday to Bulgaria without national visa. In such way Bulgaria is preparing its structures for the upcoming country’s entry into the visa-free regime, which today functions between the EU countries. The decision to introduce new visa rules was taken by the Bulgarian cabinet of ministers on Wednesday January 26, 2011. According to the Bulgarian cabinet, the new visa policy will spur the tourist interest and will make Bulgaria more attractive to foreign investors. Schengen visa owners will be able to get permission to enter Bulgaria and stay on its territory for a period of up to 3 months during the six months from the date of first entry. It should be noted that the new visa rules in Bulgaria will be useful not only for the EU citizens, but also tourists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, who have a Schengen visa. New measures, inter alia, must stir up not only the tourism sector, but also resort property market in Bulgaria. Since the beginning of the financial crisis in 2008 leading Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria have marked decreasing of the square meter price. Opportunity to visit the country for Schengen owners will facilitate entry of potential buyers and will indirectly stimulate the demand for Bulgarian property. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, in 2011 its consulates issued in total 733 623 visas, which is by 18% more than in 2010.
