Herring festival would be held in Kaliningrad

On the next Saturday, April 11 at the Kaliningrad Museum of World Ocean will be held an unusual feast dedicated to a traditional Russian delicacy, popular table favorite - aromatic herring.

Warm April days were not randomly selected for the original herring celebrations: exactly in April 1948 from the port of Kaliningrad to the shores of Iceland departed the ship, which gave a rise to the one of the largest in the country, Kaliningrad fishing fleet. Subsequently, established in the Kaliningrad region, fishing and fish processing enterprises produced more than 10% of fish production of the country. 

This year herring festival will be held for the fourth time and, according to organizers, promises to become one of the brightest spring fests of the year. So the organizers of the folk festival prepared for guests in addition to fabulous gala concert and 1200 liters of excellent captain’s fish soup a lot of trips to the museum ships, trawlers and even the presentation of a competition to cook of a giant dish for the Guinness’ Records Book from the gentle marine delicacies - aromatic herring. 

Museum Embankment:

11:00 celebratory procession:; Commemorative monument to the pioneers of the ocean fishing  11:00-17:00 - «Fish Bazaar». Fish products, souvenirs, food in a summer cafe.  12:00-15:30 - «Herring shoal». Competition and game programs.

The course to the main stage: 

11:15-11:45 - «Captain's deckhouse», the opening ceremony of the festival. Awarding the winners of competitive programs.  16:00 - Closing ceremony of the festival

The course to the Main Building:

13:30-14:00 - Promo «On the way to the Guinness’ Records Book». Cooking of the Russian favourite delicacy «herring under a fur coat» of a giant size.  «Birthday on the day of herring» - Kaliningrad Museum of World Ocean accepts congratulations and gifts in honor of the birthday.

The course to the museum vessels: 

11:00-17:00 - «Ship surprises» on the museum ships, guests of the fest will be received at: wardroom on a submarine, passengers' lounge on SRV «Vityaz», passengers' lounge on SRV «Cosmonaut Viktor Patsaev»  13:00-16: 00 - «Ship Bay». The exhibition of models of ships on the promenade deck INS «Vityaz». 

The course to the SRT-129: 

12:15-13:00 - Opening of a new exhibition «Pioneers of the ocean fleet» on average fishing trawler.  13:00-17:00 - «Ship surprises» in the passengers' lounge on the SRT-129.

The course to the pavilion «Cachalot»:

12:00 - 15:30 - Children's drawing content on the marine theme «The Sea of magic paints».The course to «Sea Königsberg - Kaliningrad» 12:00 - 15:00 - «The boarding on the island of sounds». Karaoke Competition on marine topics. Contest of songs, poems, jokes and stories about the triumph of the herring.
