Annual heat at Lake Balaton is postponed due to the weather

The organizers of the annual heat at the Hungarian Lake Balaton and the head of the local rescue service officially announced the postponement of the event to the later date due to bad weather conditions.

According to the organizers, the final decision to change the date of the sports competitions, which is to be held next Sunday on 26 July, will be made on Saturday morning.

It should be mentioned that the heat at the Lake Balaton is the most popular and major sporting event in Europe. Every year about 8 000 people from 25 countries, including the United States, Japan and Australia gather here. Well-known politicians, show-business stars, actors and artists, professional athletes and passionate amateurs of swimming meet in Hungary to overcome the 5 200 meters swimming at the Lake Balaton, between cities and Révfülöp Balatonboglár.

Traditionally the competition takes place on the last weekend of July. After the mandatory medical check the competitors start the incredible race. According to the corridor created by fishing boats, yachts and boats, from 8:00 to 14:00 competitors make their heats.

This year, the traditional heat at the Lake Balaton will be held for the 28th time. The organizers of the event expect no less than 10 000 participants. Registration fee for the participation in the contest is 3900 forints.
