Above the world's airlines are gravely threatened by the ban of the use of European airports. Under the new requirements of the EU air carriers are obliged to drastically reduce emissions by 2012.

Recently the EU has once again announced a list of airlines to which there is a requirement to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the environment by 2012. Among the nearly 4000 airlines, subjected to the the claim are such global giants as the German airline Lufthansa, the Italian Alitalia, Australia's Quantas, the Dutch KLM, the airline of UAE Emirates, as well as US Airways and United from USA. Such well-known European aircraft manufacturers like Airbus and Dassault, along with hundreds of other private business operators and the military services, such as US Navy, and air forces of Israel and Russia as well have been put in the «black list» announced yesterday.

Currently, the level of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere of airlines in Europe is 3% of the total carbon dioxide. Under the updated law, carriers are obliged to reduce emissions no later than January 1, 2012. Otherwise, on airlines will be imposed significant fines. To correspond with the strict requirements of the new decree the airlines will be forced to start monitoring their emissions from January next year.

Against a new law has already issued most of the members of ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization, as well as companies- members of the IATA - International Air Transport Association. Also a list of 4 000 airlines obliged to reduce their emissions under the new law was criticized in сonnection with the fact that it includes non-European companies that make flights to Europe.
