In the Ukrainian village of Great Sorochintsy in Poltava region is held a unique cultural event - the National Sorochinskaya Fair - widely known for the famous Russian classic Nikolai Gogol.

This year is a landmark in the history of Sorochinskaya fair. At this time fair movement's motto is the celebration of 200th anniversary of the famous writer, dramatist, poet and writer Nikolai Gogol, who had a huge impact on the broad popularity of Sorochinskaya fair. It is here in town Sorochintsy on March 20, 1809 was born the classic of Russian and Ukrainian literature, changed by his story «Sorochinskaya Fair» the course of life of a small village in the Ukraine.

With what rapture describes Gogol the native places and Sorochynskaya Fair: «Who has not seen or ever been in a whirlwind of bustling fair, when all the people with their product fused into one huge monster and moves his the whole body on the square and narrow streets, make noise, laugh, thunders. Noise, crack, abuse, bleating, bellowing, roaring, - everything merging into one dissonant murmur, as if it falls somewhere in the distant waterfall and alarmed neighborhood is full of the roar ».

Sorochinskaya Fair will be held until August 23 and will offer visitors a lot of different entertainment for every taste.

12.00 - 13.00 - The closing ceremony of the National Sorochinskaya fair with the participation of the heroes of Gogol's works - Khivrya, Cherevik, Athanasius Ivanovich ... - artists of Poltava Academic Theater of N.V. Gogol, a male vocal ensemble Podolsk Cossacks "(Vinnitsa region.), folk group of the national amateur choir "Zhayvir" (Kiev region).
