In the Croatian capital Zagreb on September 18 will start the World Theater Festival - WORLD THEATRE FESTIVAL 2009. Festival in Zagreb will take place throughout the week, from 18 to 26 of September.

Along with its famous theater festival in Edinburgh the festival in Zagreb is considered to be one of the key cultural events in Europe. In 2009, the World Theater Festival in Zagreb will be held for the seventh time. On the scene of the festival will performed the best European performances of recent times. Their performances will present to the viewers the leading theater directors from Germany, Belgium, Russia and other countries.

The performance, which will open the World Theater Festival, will be the work of the Russian director Lev Dodin after Vasily Grossman's novel "Life and Fate. Lev Dodin today is one of the most authoritative representatives of Russia and the world theater scene. In Russia Lev Dodin heads the Academic Malyi Theater of St. Petersburg, also known as the Theater of Europe. That is Malyi Theater of St. Petersburg that will perform "Life and Fate" on the stage of Zagreb.

In addition to the Russian performance director, WORLD THEATRE FESTIVAL will present to the public works of famous German directors Heiner Goebbels and Christoph Marthaler, Italian Spiro Simone and Belgian Jan Lauvers.

The performance "Isabella's Room" directed by John Lauvers will be held in a specially equipped pavilion in Zagreb. The other performances of the World Theater Festival in Zagreb will take place at more traditional venues - in the Croatian National Theater, in Zagreb Youth Theater and Puppet Theater in Zagreb.

The tickets for the performances of the WORLD THEATRE FESTIVAL in Zagreb can be purchased at the checkouts of Zagreb Youth Theater. The ticket costs 150-200 Croatian kronas.
