Romania and Bulgaria: possibly the cheapest winter holiday season 2009/2010

(0) marks: 0The ski resorts of Bulgaria and Romania are recognized by the British edition of the Daily Mail to be the cheapest places for winter recreation in Eastern Europe in the season 2009/2010. The Daily Mail has published the results of monitoring the world's leading ski resorts of the world and Europe. Such resorts as Borovets in Bulgaria and Pojana Brasov in Romania were among the cheapest ski areas, which are recommended by the British newspaper for the winter holidays.
Despite the rising of prices at the world ski resorts, Romania and Bulgaria managed to retain the status of regions with the most advantageous offers for winter tourism. In general, prices at the ski resort of Borovets in Bulgaria will rise in the 2009-2010 winter season for about 4%, the prices at the resort Poiana Brasov in Romania will increase by 14%.
Poiana Brasov, according to the Daily Mail data, remains the cheapest ski resort not only in Romania, but also throughout Eastern Europe. The average cost of a week holiday at the resort Poiana Brasov according to preliminary estimates will be about 210 euros per person and this includes renting ski equipment, lunch for two and drinks and free lift services. Borovets in Bulgaria is the second reasonable offer. Here the cost of a week holiday with the same parameters will cost 275 euros. A third country, which is recognized as the most advantageous place for winter holidays is Slovakia. The High Tatras - local ski region that is famous for such resorts as Smokovec, Strbske Pleso and Poprad - holds the third place; it will cost you 290 euros per week for these services.
Today Poiana Brasov is the most famous ski resort in Romania. Each year for a winter holiday in Romania here come thousands of tourists here from Russia, Ukraine, Poland and other countries. In Poiana Brasov today you can find about 40 hotels of different level of service. Borovets is the third most popular ski resort in Bulgaria after Bansko and Pamporovo.

River of Memory will appear in Minsk

Holidays in Bulgaria: visa-free regime for Schengen owners
The Bulgarian government decided to simplify for many tourists the procedure of entering the country. From now on all people with a valid Schengen visa can go on holiday to Bulgaria without national visa. In such way Bulgaria is preparing its structures for the upcoming country’s entry into the visa-free regime, which today functions between the EU countries.
The decision to introduce new visa rules was taken by the Bulgarian cabinet of ministers on Wednesday January 26, 2011. According to the Bulgarian cabinet, the new visa policy will spur the tourist interest and will make Bulgaria more attractive to foreign investors.
Schengen visa owners will be able to get permission to enter Bulgaria and stay on its territory for a period of up to 3 months during the six months from the date of first entry.
It should be noted that the new visa rules in Bulgaria will be useful not only for the EU citizens, but also tourists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, who have a Schengen visa.
New measures, inter alia, must stir up not only the tourism sector, but also resort property market in Bulgaria. Since the beginning of the financial crisis in 2008 leading Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria have marked decreasing of the square meter price. Opportunity to visit the country for Schengen owners will facilitate entry of potential buyers and will indirectly stimulate the demand for Bulgarian property.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, in 2011 its consulates issued in total 733 623 visas, which is by 18% more than in 2010.
