6. Choice Hotels.
According to a global study of MKG Hospitality, the American franchise Choice Hotels has not changed its position this year, saving the 6th place in the ranking and showing an increase in the number of rooms for 4,5%. High-class brand “Cambria” has significantly increased its housing stock with only 12 hotels. It is currently expected the joining of 61 more hotels to the “Cambria” brand. Choice Hotels is also considering building of two new high-class brands with excellent service and innovative concept of service.
7. Best Western.
With more than 4 000 hotels located in 80 countries, the Best Western chain took the7th place in ranking of the largest hotel chains of the planet according to the version of MKG Hospitality. In the past year Best Western has paid much attention to the development of its network in Europe. So the chain has opened new Best Western hotels in Germany (Best Western Parkhotel Weingarten), Italy (Best Western Falck Village Hotel), Holland (Best Western Premier ART Hotel Eindhoven), Norway (Best Western Stav Hotel, Best Western Grand Ocean Hotell), Austria (Best Western Romerhof), Belgium (Best Western Zimmerhotel), Denmark (Best Western Mercur Hotel), and especially France (Best Western Kemaris, Best Western Mentmartre, Best Western Premier Opera Diamond, Best Western Golf Hotel de Valescure, Best Western Hotel L ' Oree). Much attention was also paid to Eastern Europe. Thus, in recent years had been opened 5-star hotels in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague (Best Western Premier Hotel Royal Palace), Romania (Best Western Hotel Astoria) and Poland (Best Western Hotel Murowanica).
8. Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
The modernization of the Sheraton hotel group is almost 70% and is now beginning to pay off. Despite the disappearance of nearly 20 hotels of the chain that did not meet modern standards, the housing stock of the group has recently grown by 10 new high-standard hotels.
9. Carlson.
Carlson chain, which has a stock of more than 150 000 hotel rooms worldwide, has shown this year an increase of 2%, taking a solid 9th place in rating of the largest hotel chains on the planet. In the past year in the Asia-Pacific region the company has created more than 20 000 new hotel rooms. In Europe the major and the most active brand is “Rezidor”.
10. Global Hyatt.
Despite the fact that the housing stock of hotel rooms of Global Hyatt has decreased by 17.4% over the past year, the group is still in the top ten of the largest hotel chains in the world. The reducing of the housing stock was a part of Hyatt strategy, which decided to concentrate only on high-class hotels. It should be noted that other brands of the chain are experiencing a sustained growth.

River of Memory will appear in Minsk
Memorial composition in memory of those killed in the terrorist attack on April 11, 2011 in Minsk subway will be installed at the Oktyabrskaya station exit. Now there is a temporary marble memorial plaque where are always burning candles and church lamps.

Holidays in Bulgaria: visa-free regime for Schengen owners
The Bulgarian government decided to simplify for many tourists the procedure of entering the country. From now on all people with a valid Schengen visa can go on holiday to Bulgaria without national visa. In such way Bulgaria is preparing its structures for the upcoming country’s entry into the visa-free regime, which today functions between the EU countries.
The decision to introduce new visa rules was taken by the Bulgarian cabinet of ministers on Wednesday January 26, 2011. According to the Bulgarian cabinet, the new visa policy will spur the tourist interest and will make Bulgaria more attractive to foreign investors.
Schengen visa owners will be able to get permission to enter Bulgaria and stay on its territory for a period of up to 3 months during the six months from the date of first entry.
It should be noted that the new visa rules in Bulgaria will be useful not only for the EU citizens, but also tourists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, who have a Schengen visa.
New measures, inter alia, must stir up not only the tourism sector, but also resort property market in Bulgaria. Since the beginning of the financial crisis in 2008 leading Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria have marked decreasing of the square meter price. Opportunity to visit the country for Schengen owners will facilitate entry of potential buyers and will indirectly stimulate the demand for Bulgarian property.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, in 2011 its consulates issued in total 733 623 visas, which is by 18% more than in 2010.
