On February 8, 2010 throughout Russia begins one of the most mass celebrations of the country - Shrovetide. The festivals that precede the Great Lent Easter will continue in Russia for a week. Pancakes as the main dish of the festival, performances of folk ensembles, traditional Russian rides, puppet theaters with Parsley and burning of effigy symbolizing winter - these are the attributes of the celebration of the Shrovetide in Russia.
Shrovetide is one of the key events of the year, which attracts foreign tourists in Russia. The holiday has already dubbed the main event-brand in Russia. Shrovetide tours are available today in many Russian travel companies.
Shrovetide 2010 in Moscow
In the modern history Moscow has the richest traditions of the celebration of the Shrovetide. In 2010 Russia's capital will organize mass festivities have for the 9th time. In this season the "Great Shrovetide 2010" will take place in many parts of Moscow. Thus, in the national historical reserve "Kolomenskoye" in the end of the Shrovetide week on February 13 and 14 will be organized festive presentation with skomorokhs. On February 14 in the “Lefortovo” complex will be held a large-scale musical and entertaining presentation. In the Izmailov Kremlin will be organized performances of children puppet theaters. The Shrovetide will take place in “Tsaristino”, “Sokolniki”, “Kuzminki” and “Gorky Park”. The central place of the celebration of Shrovetide in Moscow will be Vasilevsky descent and the Red Square. Here will be installed the main stage of the Shrovetide, as well as opened the fair, where you can taste pancakes and honey. On Sunday, February 14 from 2 to 5 pm for the carnival parade, which begins at the Triumphal Arch, in Moscow will be blocked traffic on several main streets: Tverskaya, Okhotny Ryad, Varvarka and Theater Way. Shrovetide 2010 in St. Petersburg
In St. Petersburg Shrovetide will be celebrated extensively. One of the central places of the celebration of the Shrovetide in the northern capital at this time promises to be the Constantine Palace. Shrovetide festivities are also take place in other cities. Thus, Pskov will host the All-Russia Shrovetide. The main festivities will be held in Pskov, near the Savior Mirozh monastery. One of the main activities of the celebrating of Shrovetide in Pskov promises to be the “chastushka battles”.
Celebration of the Shrovetide will be held in the cities of the Golden Ring of Russia. Yaroslavl, Myshkin, Uglich, Suzdal invite to the celebration of the Shrovetide. The most colorful performances in those cities will be held on the last day of the Shrovetide Week – on February 14.
In Nizhny Novgorod to the celebration of the Shrovetide timed the opening of the "Great Shrovetide Week" exhibition, which will be held on February 5, 2010 in the first pavilion of the “Nizhegorodskaya Fair” complex.
Some cities in Russia will celebrate the Shrovetide Day in sports. Thus, in Tobolsk, on February 14 will be held the "Ski track of Russia 2010" competitions, which will be combined with the massive festivities at the "Tobol" stadium.

Holidays in Bulgaria: visa-free regime for Schengen owners
The Bulgarian government decided to simplify for many tourists the procedure of entering the country. From now on all people with a valid Schengen visa can go on holiday to Bulgaria without national visa. In such way Bulgaria is preparing its structures for the upcoming country’s entry into the visa-free regime, which today functions between the EU countries.
The decision to introduce new visa rules was taken by the Bulgarian cabinet of ministers on Wednesday January 26, 2011. According to the Bulgarian cabinet, the new visa policy will spur the tourist interest and will make Bulgaria more attractive to foreign investors.
Schengen visa owners will be able to get permission to enter Bulgaria and stay on its territory for a period of up to 3 months during the six months from the date of first entry.
It should be noted that the new visa rules in Bulgaria will be useful not only for the EU citizens, but also tourists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, who have a Schengen visa.
New measures, inter alia, must stir up not only the tourism sector, but also resort property market in Bulgaria. Since the beginning of the financial crisis in 2008 leading Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria have marked decreasing of the square meter price. Opportunity to visit the country for Schengen owners will facilitate entry of potential buyers and will indirectly stimulate the demand for Bulgarian property.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, in 2011 its consulates issued in total 733 623 visas, which is by 18% more than in 2010.
