The capital of Hungary - Budapest welcomes its guests by charming with numerous attractions, enticing with temptations and lulling with the old history of the city. However, tourists traveling to Hungary should be more cautious - the number of frauds, victims of which become gullible tourists, has significantly increased in the city recently.
One of the most common swindles is an unethical business-practice of some establishments of the service sector, such as cafes, restaurants and nightclubs. In particular, the most frequent causes of the requests of foreign tourists to the police were the following cases: billing of extremely overpriced invoices for services, intimidation and physical coercion of customers to pay the exorbitant invoice, including the detention of a party guest as a hostage, insulting customers by employees of a club or a restaurant for lack of cash for paying unreasonably high bills.
The most frequent cases of fraud are luring of gullible tourists to dubious clubs and restaurants by obliging taxi drivers kindly consenting to show you the way to the "absolutely stunning place in Budapest”, or attractive and extremely courteous and intelligent girls, who are ready to accompany you to the “cozy restaurant and drink with you a cup of coffee”. Subsequently, thanks to the bill of 300 euros for a cup of coffee and chocolate, the girls get quite decent commission, and disappointed tourists - a lot of problems with the administration of the establishment and the police in their efforts to return the money earned by honest labor. Also, be extremely careful if you are offered to make an order without giving you a menu or if the prices for lobsters and squids, which you can not wait to try in the restaurant, are not provided for a portion, but for 100 grams and you are not notified in advance about the weight of your dinner. Also be careful when reading the menu - there may be hidden fees, the cost of table, musical accompaniment, exaggerated tip and more.
