Sochi: hotels as the construction of the century

(News from Russia)

Hotels in Sochi are being constructed at a rapid pace. This applies to the construction of sporting facilities and tourist infrastructure. According to the Krasnodar media, today nearly one-third of Olympic facilities, construction of which was conducted with the direct participation of the Kuban authorities, have already been opened.

In addition to the Olympic objects the key element in creating the structure of the Olympic Sochi is construction of hotels. Now among developers and contractors for the construction of new hotels in Sochi are practically all the largest financial groups in Russia. There are projects implemented by Potanin, Abramovich and Chygrynskiy - one of the richest men in Russia.

New hotels in Sochi, which will be opened, are quite similar on the scale to Olympic construction. According to RIA Novosti, among the most recent projects is a hotel complex in the Imeretinskaya Valley, designed for 4.200 rooms. The total project cost is estimated at $800 million. Construction of one of the largest hotels in Sochi will be jointly organized by the two major developers in Moscow – “Snegiri Development” and “Monarch”. Controlling stake (60% of shares) of “Snegiri Development” belongs to Alexander Chygrynskiy. Sergei Ambartsumian, deputy director of Moscow town building department, is one of the founders of the “Monarch” company.

Parade of the oligarchs in Sochi does not end there. According to the Southern region Portal, in the construction of hotels in Sochi will also take part controlled by Viktor Vekselberg Renova company. The resource reports that the right to participate in Olympic construction his company has received from other large construction group “ACT-89g”, which control stake is owned by another Russian magnate, former owner of the infamous “Cherkizon” - Telman Ismailov.

To date, the total number of rooms for hotels in Sochi, which should receive participants and guests of the 2014 Olympics, is 15.535 rooms. Part of the hotels have already been opened, another part of the project is at an early stage of construction. In addition to a hotel complex in the Imeretinskaya Valley, one of the largest hotel projects in Sochi promises to be the construction of «Radisson Grand Marina Sochi» - a hotel near the Sochi sea station, where it is also planned to build a new mooring for 300 yachts.
