New eco-friendly steamer for river cruises will be launched in Nizhny Novgorod

In the near future in the waters of the Russian rivers will arrive a unique tourist attraction, modern comfortable and eco-friendly wheeled steamer "Sura", which is designed for fascinating and romantic river cruises.

The new ship is owned by the Nizhniy Novgorod tourist company "Gamma", which is involved in river cruises and offers its clients river trips on such as vessels as double-decked steamer "Aldan", double-decked steamer "A.Sveshnikov", three-decked steamer "October Revolution", three-decked steamer "Athanasius Nikitin", three-decked steamer "Ivan Kulibin", three-decked steamer "Captain Pushkarev", four-decked steamer "Semyon Budyonny", four-decked steamer "Georgiy Zhukov" and four-decked steamer "Alexander Pushkin".

The steamer was launched in November 2010 and currently undergoes latest tests. The ship has 40 comfortable cabins and a restaurant. Cabins are equipped with new convertible furniture and all amenities.

A unique feature of the new ship is the engine and paddle wheels of the ship. Deutz engine can work both on diesel and bio-fuel and allows the vessel to be not only high-speed, but also eco-friendly. Due to the unique design solutions used in creating the ship, steamer’s draught is only 75 centimeters and allows sail along small rivers, which are not accessible to traditional river vessels, and the new construction of paddle wheels will help to get afloat.

The ship will be introduced on September 11, when Nizhny Novgorod will celebrate the Day of the city. The new wheel steamer will sail along the Volga and the Oka rivers, from Nizhny Novgorod to Makaryevsky monastery and the legendary city of Murom.
