Concert of the famous singer Cesária Évora will be held in Yerevan

Last days of September will bring to the Armenian capital Yerevan not only autumn rains and cold, but also performance of one of the sunniest singers, unmatched "Barefoot Diva", internationally known singer, Cesária Évora.

Cesária Évora, born in Mindelo on the Cape Verde Islands, is one of the world's most famous morna, fado and modinia music performers. Amazingly beautiful voice of Evora is usually heard with piano, ukulele, accordion, violin and clarinet.

Music from Cesária Évora is a gorgeous combination of the green island country traditions, tropical showers, luxurious white sunny beaches and European style. Her rich, deep voice is equally gorgeous with lush orchestral ballads, fresh as an ocean breeze, and soulful melodies with modern nostalgic motifs.

One of the features of Cesária Évora is unchanging singing barefoot. It is believed that for such an unusual habit and in honor of her first album La Diva Aux Pieds Nus (Barefoot Diva) the singer got the nickname "Barefoot Diva". Nevertheless, the original singer’s feature is not a fashion or an exotic belief, but a symbol of unity with their compatriots from the Cape Verde Islands, which is considered as one of the poorest countries in the world.

Cesária Évora is actively touring and brings a sunny theme of Cape Verde in the most remote corners of the earth. The singer several times visited Russia and gave concerts in such cities as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Barnaul, Yekaterinburg, Perm, Tver, Arkhangelsk, Ufa, Tyumen, Yaroslavl, Samara, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Vladivostok and Khabarovsk.

On September 29, 2011 Cesária Évora will perform at the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet in Yerevan.
