(News from Ukraine)

From May 5, 2012 Odessa and Munich will be linked by the direct flight. The decision to open a flight between the two cities was announced by the Lufthansa director for corporate communications Aage Duenhaupt.

Flights between Odessa and Munich will be available once a week on Saturdays. The new flight will be served by the Lufthansa department - Lufthansa Cityline. The flight will be carried out on the Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft designed for 86 seats.

The time of travel on the new flight from Munich to Odessa will be 4 hours and 20 minutes. The aircraft will depart from Munich Airport at 14.50 and arrive in Odessa at 18.10. The return flight will depart from Odessa at 19.05 and arrive in Munich at 20.35.

According to avianews.com, the cost of return ticket from Munich will be 317 Euros, from Odessa - 4120 UAH.

For Lufthansa launching of a new flight from Odessa is not the first experience in establishing air communication with the Ukrainian cities. Since 2009 Lufthansa performs daily flights from Lviv to Munich.

Lufthansa is one of the most active European players in the Ukrainian civil aviation market. Today the company operates international flights to Europe from Kiev, Donetsk and Lviv. Odessa will be four in a row Ukrainian city that receives direct flights of the German airline.

Cooperation of Lufthansa and other regions of Ukraine may be widened in the near future. In October 2011 the company’s division Lufthansa Consulting and the international airport of Simferopol signed an agreement on cooperation. The contract provides for Lufthansa assistance in modernization of the airport facilities. In particular, Germans are supposed to act as one of the developers of the project documentation, which will optimize the Simferopol airport infrastructure.
