Tolkien theme park will be built in Poland
(News from Poland)
The new park called The Country of Ancestors will soon appear in the Opole voivodeship near the town of Prudnik. It will be a Live action Role-playing game park (LARP). Live action role playing games are not a new phenomenon, but they usually attract a fairly small group of people, who know each other and are closely linked. The Country of Ancestors LARP park will very differ from the classic role-playing games because the game will be able for any visitor. So, the number of visitors may vary 1000 to 5000 depending on the day. Such element of surprise, according to the organizers of the project, will add popularity to the park.
The theme of The Country of Ancestors will be all the books of J.Tolkien, who is often called the founder of the fantasy genre. Therefore, the territory will be full of hobbit burrows, artificial dwarf caves, magic towers, and fairy tale characters mentioned in the writer’s books. Park visitors will be able to choose a character, get the clothes and stuff and immediately begin to play a role. It doesn’t matter that on some day there will be a thousand of magicians and just one dwarf, it is even more interesting! But sometimes the game will be organized according to a strict plan with participation of professional actors. On such days participants will need to apply in advance and play the role, which will be offered by the organizers. In addition, the owners plan to open styled hotels and restaurants on the park territory.
Located in southern Poland Opole voivodeship is the smallest in the country. Its economy is mainly based on industry and agriculture. However, there numerous historic towns and nature reserves, which could be very interesting to the tourists. Therefore, the authorities decided to develop tourism sector and creation of The Country of Ancestors one of the first steps.
