Next Friday in the cultural capital of Poland, Krakow, will be held one of the most important events of the Polish cinema, an innovative film extravaganza - International Festival of Independent Cinema OFF PLUS CAMERA 2009.
OFF PLUS CAMERA 2009 being held this year for the second time, will become a haven for good and, often, complicated, intricate cinema, a place for meetings of like-minded persons where you can discuss and share with your innovative ideas. The festival is particular for the fact that the main selection viewings will take place in small and medium-sized rooms, served in the distant 70's, 80's and 90's as the meeting places of the Polish cultural and artistic elite.
The most important part of the Polish Festival is an international competition in which 12 independent directors from six continents will compete for the prize of Cracow Film Festival in the amount of U.S. $ 100 000. The winner will be selected by the International Jury and get rewards from the hands of the mayor of the city of Cracow, Jacek Majkhrowski. The winner will also receive a grant from the Polish Film Institute in the amount of PLN 1000 000 for a new independent film in Poland.
According to preliminary estimates during selection viewings visitors will see about 100 unique films. At the same time, the organizers of the festival aim at showing of classic underground films in addition to the innovative independent films. Also, an important element of the festival will be a competition of films created with the help of mobile phones, set up under a similar project of a film festival Sundance.
In addition to exciting screenings festival guests can expect numerous musical events, exciting seminars, lectures and discussion clubs, as well as meetings with famous actors.
