Next Saturday in the Armenian capital of Yerevan will start a series of concerts devoted to the famous composer Sofia Gubajdulina. The concerts will be held in the scope of the 11st international festival "the Prospects of the 21st century" with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia and under the patronage of the President Serge Sargsyan.
In a series of concerts will take part the hero of the occasion Sofia Asgatovna Gubajdulina. It should be noted that in the opinion of many music critics Sofia Asgatovna is one of the most prominent composers of the second half of the 20th century. As the magnificent contemporary composer she thinks of music as an indivisible patterned lace of life, religion and art. The incredible depth, wonderful unity of the arts of the East and West and the infallibility of spiritual purity - these are the main words describing uncommon creativity of the composer. Sofia Asgatovna Gubajdulina along with a number of such musical giants as Alfred Schnittke and Edison Denisov is one of three leading avant-garde composers of Russia. This year Sofia Gubajdulina will celebrate her 79th birthday.
A series of concerts will be opened on March 6 by the famous Russian musician and a world-renowned violist Yuri Bashmet in the concert hall of Aram Khachaturian. The famed musician will perform with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia and will play quite a great concert the "Night song of the Fish" created by Sofia Gubajdulina in 1996 for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and which is an inimitable concert for viola dedicated to Yuri Bashmet.
In addition to the famous musician the concerts devoted to Sofia Gubajdulina will attend such world-famous musicians as Geir Draugsvojl (accordion), David Gerindas (cello), Robertas Shervenikas (conductor) and Nicola Alshted (cello). The Armenian side at the concerts will present the Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Edward Topchyan, the "Hover" chamber choir, the “Serenad” chamber orchestra and other famous artists.
The concert week will end on March 10.
