Famous American hotel chain Marriott International, which owns thousands of resorts around the world, officially announced their plans to conquer Europe. An ambitious expansion project in the Old World would double the number of rooms of European hotels.
First sign of economic recovery and the recovery of tourism after the global financial crisis was the news announced by Marriott International plans to increase European portfolio. According to the information provided, Marriott assumes an increase the number of rooms of its European property from 40 000 to 80 000 rooms by 2015.
It should be noted that at the moment the famous hotel chain owns more than 3 100 hotels all over the world. Marriott manages approximately 515 000 hotel rooms and 10 000 houses for the holidays. The company owns 14 well-known brands, including such names as Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, Grand Residences by Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton Club. Approximately half of the existing brands of Marriott are in Europe.
In the expansive plans of Marriott is the implementation of about 30 very ambitious European projects. Among them are listed the end of construction and opening this year of such jewels as the magnificent business hotel of the capital of Russia as the The Renaissance Moscow Monarch Center Hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott Budapest and Turkish JW Marriott Hotel Ankara. Also in 2012 in Munich will be opened the first European hotel under the brand of Residence Inn.
In addition to the significant increase of rooms under the existing brands, the Marriott Company plans to create new luxury hotels under new names: boutique hotels Edition and Autograph Collection.
