On our planet there are fewer places, where nature is not changed by human and retained its primeval image. And the rare small reserves are strictly protected by the state, so for fans of extreme secluded pastime it is becoming increasingly difficult to choose places for recreation. However, such places still exist, and one of them is Yamal Peninsula in the north of Western Siberia in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. Despite the fact that there are the largest on the planet deposits of natural gas, peninsula is poorly mastered by the man. And it makes Yamal attractive for tourists, who prefer wild nature to sea beaches and cruise liners.
Every year thousands of tourists go to the Edge of the Earth (this is translation from the Nenets) to stay away from civilization. Local district administration strongly supports growing tourist business. Every year guests are offered more interesting and exciting tourist destinations and adventures. For example this summer travel companies can offer their customers a thrilling hiking ascent to the Rai Is peak with visiting the nephrite valley and ancient glaciers, walking along the mountain stream Nyrdvomenshor to the "Dinosaur" mountain, an ethnographic tour "Tent on the Swan Lake", traveling along the river Poluy on the catamaran "Yamal", as well as extreme rafting on mountain rivers Sob and Harbey.
Among other forms of tourism are especially worth noting fishing and hunting. And it is not surprising, because on the Yamal peninsula there 227 species of vertebrate animals. Northern areas are inhabited by white arctic fox, polar wolf, wolverine, rabbit, stoat, least weasel, and in the south are brown bears, elks, sables and squirrels. Coast and nearby islands was chosen by the ringed seal, sea hare and Greenland seal. And in the rivers and lakes of the peninsula are found sterlet, sturgeon, whitefish, broad whitefish, pydschjan, syrok, burbot, pike and ruff. This year for hunters and fishermen will also be offered new and unique routes, which will include travels by boat, on foot and by helicopter with visiting the most protected parts of Yamal. The total length of the new route is more than 500 kilometers.
