Slovenia is one of the former Yugoslavian countries, where tourism industry is quite well developed. It is evidenced by the latest statistical data published by the national office of statistics.
Thus, in 2011 the number of tourists arriving on holiday in Slovenia increased by 7%, while the number of overnight stays in Slovenian hotels increased by 5%. Foreigners were the basis of Slovenian tourism industry success in 2011. In total about 3 million foreigners visited the country in 2011.
Apartments, hotels and villas rentals in Slovenia present the whole spectrum of tourist accommodation in cities and resorts of the country. Despite the tiny stretch of coastline Slovenia can attract tourists by scenic views of the Lake Bled, Kranjska Gora and Maribor ski resorts, the capital Ljubljana and numerous festivals and holidays.
According to the data published by the World Economic Forum, Slovenia is included into the top 40 countries with the greatest tourist attractiveness. At the same hotels played the leading role in creating the country’s image. According to the Slovenian national tourist organisation director Maja Pak, as reported by guide2slovenia.com, in great demand among the foreign tourists were alternative types of accommodation: hostels, farms, private rural hotels and campings. The majority of hotels in Slovenia marked the growing of interest in their services among the Russians. While Italians and Belgians primarily booked affordable housing, the tourists from Russia booked hotel rooms.
Anyway, Slovenia doesn’t want to stop at the top. The country plans to launch the world advertising campaign in 2012. The authorities will also focus on development of such services as air transportation and visa centers.
