The day of March 8 in 2012 is a holiday, which is traditionally widely celebrated in Russia. This year on March 8 in Moscow and a number of other Russian cities will be held special events and exhibitions to mark the International Women's Day.

March 8 will be held in Moscow in a peaceful manner. The opposition, which intended to take its supporters on the streets, refused from initial plans to organize a holiday meeting failing to agree with the Moscow City Hall about the route. Among the central events of the day are concerts, exhibitions, and a variety of shows. One of the most interesting events will be held in the Gorky Park. On March 8 on the Fountain square in Moscow well-known artists will offer Moscow citizens and guests to pose for their pictures as "Girls with a paddle". Moreover, the girls will be able to take these pictures with them.

British rockers Kasabian will please its fans with their only concert in Moscow on March 8. The best British band of the year, according to the New Musical Express publication, can be heard on the stage of the new Stadium-live club. The day before the concert Stadium-live will be occupied by Mumiy Troll, who will present on March 7 their new concert program "It's love".

On the eve of March 8 the Moscow railway will increase the number of express train coaches on the routes Moscow - Kaluga, Moscow - Tula, Moscow - Dubna and Moscow - Ryazan-1 to serve the growing passenger traffic during the holidays.

Among the special places that promise to be interesting for the ladies is the latest exhibition "Fashion behind the Iron Curtain. From the wardrobe of the Soviet era stars" in Tsaritsyn, which in late February was presented by the well-known fashion historian Aleksandr Vasiliev. The collection of dresses, which is exhibited in the Bread house includes unique exhibits, including the Soviet-era dresses of such stars as Maya Plisetskaya, Tatiana Shmyga, Lyudmila Gurchenko, Clara Luchko and others.

Other Russian cities will also try to keep up with the capital by a variety of festive events.

Thus, a new Park Inn by Radisson hotel at the Rose Farm resort will be opened in Sochi on March 8. It is one of several projects that Rezidor hotel chain implements as part of the Olympic construction works.

In Yekaterinburg on March 8 will be opened the "Men torture chamber", which is a kind of showcase, where men will do women's work: cooking, cleaning and washing dishes. Presentation of the "Chamber" will be held at the "Fan Fan" exhibition center at 15.00. It should be noted that not everyone in Yekaterinburg appreciated the humor of the event organizers. According to justmedia.ru, the organizers received several letters from angry men, who demand to ban the opening as it is a "derision" and "humiliation of manhood".

In Samara local authorities decided not to infringe the rights of men, but rather to widen the women rights. Therefore, on 8 March in Samara all women will be able to use the public transport for free.

In Vladivostok public transport will also be involved in congratulating the beautiful half of the humanity. On March 7 the route â„–6 "Mine town - Stadium" will be served by a special holiday tram specifically decorated in honor of the holiday. The passengers with lucky tickets will receive presents for the March 8.

In Omsk several exhibitions will be held on March 8. One of them will be opened on March 7, 2012 in the Vrubel museum. It will be the "Caterpillars" exhibition from Vasily Melnichenko. Its main characters will be women, who were able to go beyond the common image of a classic woman.

"Yakutia" airline prepared special discounts for its passengers on the holiday eve. Flights at a discounted price from Magadan, Yakutsk, Novosibirsk and other cities in the period from 6 to 8 March 2012 will be available for the women over 12 years.
