Macedonia invited the world's richest man Carlos Slim from Mexico. The country's authorities intend to offer Slim implementation a number of joint projects in energy, hotel, mining and telecommunication industries.

Macedonia promises to organize the high-level summit. The Mexican billionaire will meet with the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and ministers representing the economic bloc in the Macedonian government. Carlos Slim has already confirmed his participation in the meeting. According to the MINA agency, on Monday March 19, 2012 this information was announced by the Minister of Information Society and Administration Ivo Ivanovski.

The list of issues that the Macedonian government intends to discuss with Carlos Slim includes major government projects, which may be interesting for the billionaire’s companies.

In 2011 Carlos Slim was named by the Forbes the richest man of the world. His companies are mainly interested in telecommunications. Slim’s fortune is estimated at 69 billion dollars.

Macedonia is now one of the most actively growing markets in the Balkans. More and more foreign companies are trying to enter the country's market. Retailing is among the fastest growing sectors. So, in September in the Macedonian capital Skopje will be opened the largest shopping mall - Skopje City Mall. Investments in its construction are amounted to about 90 million Euros. Among the companies that will be presented in the new shopping center are such well-known brands as Carrefour and Zara.

Tourism in Macedonia also show unexpected growth. The past winter was one of the most successful for the tourism industry of the country in recent times. The number of tourists in Macedonia during the winter months has increased by 35%. The growth was mainly provided by the neighboring countries: Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia and Albania.
