Kapyl: Hotels and Accommodations

The Kopyl District Local History Museum presents the history of Kapyl and its surroundings in several exhibitions. The permanent exhibition “Archaeological History of the Kapyl Region” presents finds from excavations in Kapyl conducted in 1996–1999 and 2004. The permanent exhibition “Kopyl Market Town in the Late 19th–Early 20th Centuries” presents household items from this period stored in the open storage area. The museum also presents the exhibition “Genocide — crime without statute of limitations.”

The Kopyl District Local History Museum is located at 4 Lenin Square in Kapyl. It offers guided tours on the archaeology and history of the Kopyl District, including a general tour of the permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as a tour on the history of the war.

Culture and History

Part of the historic development of the former marketplace has been preserved on what is now Lenin Square in Kapyl; old stone houses can be seen there. The area in Kapyl where Tatars lived was called Tatar Log; it was located next to the town rampart or the site of the castle on the bank of the Mazha River. The Mizar in Kapyl is currently the only surviving monument to the city’s former Tatar community.

Religious Sites

The Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Kapyl is a 19th-century architectural monument and is located in the center of Kapyl on the historic Slutsk Street. The Spaso-Ascension Church in Kapyl was built in 1866.
