Soligorsk: Hotels and Accommodation
Soligorsk combines mining and regional history with city parks, sports facilities and water-based activities. The Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ is described as the largest church in the Minsk Region and as one of the largest churches in Belarus. It is 60 metres high and has a total area of 3,500 square metres. The complex includes the Church of St John the Baptist in the crypt and the small Church in Honour of the Nativity of the Mother of God. In the pilgrimage programme of the Pilgrimage Department of the Grodno Eparchy, the cathedral is listed as a destination for 12 to 13 September. Health
The Republican Hospital for Speleotherapy in Soligorsk practises underground speleotherapy in potash mines; its underground speleotherapy complex is located 420 metres below the surface.
Culture and History
The Soligorsk Museum of Local Lore covers, among other subjects, local history, ethnography, geology, traditional crafts, the history of the Second World War and the development of the city. The interiors are designed like underground mine workings. The hall dedicated to the construction of the potash mines and the city displays miners’ tools, photographs and personal belongings of the city’s first builders.
The Museum of Labour Glory of Belarusian Potash in Soligorsk has more than 2,000 exhibits. The exhibition is designed with a representation of layers of potash salts and a reconstructed mine shaft, uses audiovisual materials and displays fossil eurypterids from the Palaeozoic era, dated to between 350 and 360 million years old.
City and Parks
The Four Elements Park in Soligorsk is a place for meetings, games and entertainment. The city’s largest fountain is located there; its 740 water jets reach a height of 20 metres. In the evening, the fountain is illuminated by around 80 lanterns.
The Family Park of Love and Fidelity in Soligorsk contains the “Ryaba the Hen” children’s play area with sculptures of “Ryaba the Hen” and “Mouse-Norushka”.
Nature and Sport
The Soligorsk Health Trail runs through a large wooded area on the outskirts of the city and leads to springs with clean drinking water. Sports and mass events are regularly held along the Health Trail.
Naberezhnaya Street in Soligorsk is home to a roller-skating or roller-sports track with a parabolic cross slope; according to the description, it meets current international standards. The Soligorsk ski-roller track consists of three training loops with one-way traffic.
The Soligorsk Extreme Park is intended for tricks on BMX bicycles, skateboards and scooters and comprises nine facilities for various tricks.
Water
In Soligorsk, pedal boats for trips on the water and rowing boats can be rented at the OSVOD rescue station and at the Beriozka Sanatorium.
