Nova Gradiška: Hotels and Accommodations

Nova Gradiška’s distinctive character is particularly evident in its old town center: it preserves late Baroque features and can be explored on foot. Highlights include the Church of Saint Teresa of Ávila, the former courthouse and prison building known as Glavna straža, and the Church of the Immaculate Conception, with murals by Croatian painter Celestin Medović.

Culture and History

The “Venera sa Slavče” is a Neolithic cult figurine discovered on Slavča Hill and dated to the fifth millennium BC.

The Gradski muzej Nova Gradiška houses archaeological, cultural-historical, ethnological, and gallery collections relating to the heritage of the city and Western Slavonia. The museum building itself is a Baroque-Classical structure from the 18th and 19th centuries, recognized as a cultural heritage monument.

Nova Gradiška is located at a junction of major international road and rail connections, including European Corridors Vc and X. The city has good road and rail connections throughout Croatia and Europe.

Activities

Sportski centar Ivo Petranović features a children’s playground, a streetball court, a sand handball court, a sand football field, and a sand volleyball court. The center also includes a skate park and sanitary facilities with showers.

The 120-kilometer Davor–Strmac cycling route can be ridden in both directions. On Slavča Hill, Sportski centar San Siro organizes tennis competitions for younger and older participants. Teniski klub Nova Gradiška runs a tennis school for all age groups at the San Siro courts.

Routes

The visitor project “Započni avanturu – istraži Novu Gradišku” includes a city route with 21 points. A second route for the project was planned to lead visitors via Slavča to medieval Cernik.
