Culture

The parish church of Christ the King in Rešetari was built in 1968, and the parish was established in 1977. The traditional house in Rešetari is a preventively protected cultural asset.

The Rešetaračko proljeće is a poetry evening organised by KLD Rešetari featuring guest and local authors. Rešetari also hosts the cultural and artistic gathering Rešetarački pleter of Croatian minority associations from Europe, which dates back to 1988.

Events

The Petrović Art Colony takes place in Rešetari's municipal park and reached its 28th edition in 2026. Kestenijada is an annual autumn event centred around roasted chestnuts, featuring concerts and a local football match.

Drežnik hosts the regularly held folklore gathering Kolo na Medanu, featuring traditional costumes, singing, dancing and a communal kolo in the village square. The final of the Nova Gradiška Football Association Junior Cup was held at the football stadium of the Ivo Petranović Sports and Recreation Centre.

At the regularly held Šokac equestrian event „Kad bećari šorom zapivaju“, Šokac horsemen ride through the streets of the village.

History

Rešetari was first recorded in 1407 under the name Resetarowich villa. By 1660 at the latest, an old Catholic church dedicated to Saint John stood in Rešetari. Four mills were associated with the Rešetarica, including one upstream and one downstream from the village.

In nearby Zapolje, a medieval noble estate was first mentioned in 1258. The old Church of Saint Nicholas in Zapolje is associated with the site of an older Gothic church and was mentioned in 1660. Gradina in Zapolje is identified as possible remains of the noble town of Zapolja. Puharina is a protected archaeological site.

Landscape

Rešetari is described as a place on the Rešetarica watercourse between the Versela and Čerkenjac hills.

Wine

Through the producer Vino Ozren Kraljić, Rešetari is connected with the Cernik wine-growing region.
