Culture

The Barutana Memorial Area is located in the Bedenik forest, northwest of Bjelovar.

The central Trg Eugena Kvaternika brings together a planned historic square, a central park with around forty native and foreign plant species, the Church of Saint Teresa of Ávila dating from 1772, an Orthodox church with a remarkable iconostasis and wall paintings, and the town museum in the former town hall dating from 1831.

Regional Specialty

Bjelovarski kvargl is a traditional cheese from the Bjelovar area and has a protected geographical indication in the EU. To produce it, fresh cow’s milk cheese is mixed with salt and ground red pepper. It is then shaped into small cones, which are dried and smoked.

Cycling

The Bilogorska cycling route begins in the centre of Bjelovar and is 27 kilometres long. The Vinogradska cycling route runs mainly through flat terrain, while the Sajamska cycling route passes by Bjelovar. The Plavnička cycling route connects Bjelovar with the recreational pond near Starčevljani.

Three listed stations for renting electric bicycles are indicated for Bjelovar. The town also has two self-service bicycle repair stations. Several catering establishments are located along the Bilogorska cycling route.
