The Aquae Balissae Thermal Aquapark is located 300 metres from the centre of Daruvar, next to the Toplica River, Julijev Park and the sports and leisure zone. It has more than 2,000 square metres of water surface, adult and children's pools, slides and a peaceful river over 200 metres long. Indoors, there is a 25-metre pool, a children's pool, a grotto, a slide, a whirlpool, Finnish saunas and a steam bath.
Nature
Julijev Park is a 9.5-hectare landscaped park with trees more than 150 years old, as well as elements of a Baroque garden and an English landscape park. Roman Forest is a 20-hectare forest park with gravel-covered paths and benches. From there, a hiking route begins towards Petrov Vrh, Vranjevina, Vrani Kamen, Crni vrh and Kiku. Julius Brum is a spring in Roman Forest associated with the local legend of the spring of love. Roman Forest also contains the Jewish cemetery, a protected cultural monument from the early 19th century.
Culture and History
The spa park includes historic buildings, including Antun's Baths, Ivan's Baths, the Swiss Villa, Villa Arcadia and the Central Mud Bath. The ZaviÄajni Museum Daruvar is housed in the protected 18th-century Janković Castle. It presents Jewish cultural tradition, war exhibitions and Eva Fischer galleries; visitors can also see the interior of Janković Castle.
Culinary Delights
Daruvar's local wine road follows a centuries-old winemaking tradition. Pivovara Daruvar has operated at the same location since 1840 and is Croatia's oldest brewery using traditional Czech brewing technology. The start of StaroÄeÅ¡ko beer production at Pivovara Daruvar is dated to 1893; a traditional Czech recipe is cited in this context.
Activities
Fishing takes place at Jezero Pond next to the Toplica River, and cycling is promoted in the surrounding area. Nearby Petrov Vrh has a mountain lodge in a forest clearing, as well as sledding and skiing areas.
