Novi Golubovec: Hotels and Accommodation

Geographical Setting
In antiquity, a Roman road crossed the municipality of Novi Golubovec, connecting the Krapina Valley with Ptuj via Radoboj and the OÄura Pass. The Novi Golubovec–Varaždin railway line connects Krapina-Zagorje County with Varaždin County.
Culture
The historic centre of Novi Golubovec is protected in the spatial plan as immovable cultural heritage of local significance. The Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Veternica was built in 1744 in the Baroque style and has a late Baroque altar dating from 1755. The Chapel of the Wounded Jesus is known locally as "Otac Bog" and contains an old stone-carved statue of the Wounded Jesus. St Barbara’s Chapel in Novi Golubovec was built in 1972 as a chapel dedicated to the patron saint of miners.
Novi Golubovec railway station is designated as a historic building of local significance. Kaptol Manor and the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary are under preventive protection. The Veternica complex once had the appearance of a small fortified structure with a high wall and tower. When the Chapel of the Wounded Jesus was blessed in 1847, a procession led from VeterniÄki dvorac to the chapel.
Community
KUD Golubovec from Novi Golubovec has been active since the 1950s, with shorter periods of inactivity. The association is described as a guardian and promoter of the cultural heritage of its area. It participates in cultural events and showcases within Krapina-Zagorje County, throughout Croatia and abroad, and runs folklore and tambura sections.
Its repertoire includes songs and dances from Hrvatsko Zagorje, Slavonia and Baranja, Međimurje, Posavina, Prigorje, as well as from Croatian Bunjevac traditions. KUD Golubovec also preserves a traditional collection of folk costumes and displays them at performances. The association has 55 active members from all generations.
History
The Veternica spiritual centre offers a chapel, a Calvary for the Way of the Cross and opportunities for quiet reflection, as well as spiritual retreat programmes, including weekends of fasting, prayer and silence.
