Oroslavje: Hotels and accommodations

Oroslavje combines Baroque castle and park history with historic sites, sacred buildings, and leisure activities for groups and individual visitors.

Culture

Dvorac Oroslavje Donje was built at the end of the 18th century by Sigismund Vojković/Vojkffy in a late Baroque U-shaped design. The castle’s vaults preserve rare late Baroque paintings from the late 18th century depicting scenes from Greek and Roman mythology. The castle’s main hall also houses Croatia’s only late Baroque–Classicist stove.

The parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was probably built in 1652 or 1653, first mentioned in 1669, and has been a parish church since 1941. Its furnishings include an early 18th-century altar with a tabernacle and a painting of the Virgin Mary with a silver crown.

The Chapel of Saint Peter in Krušljevo Selo was built in 1808 and is described in the Oroslavje area as an important cultural monument.

Parks

The park of Dvorac Oroslavje Donje is protected as a monument of park architecture and covers 5.43 hectares. The park surrounding the castle is described as featuring Baroque–Classicist garden elements and landscape garden architecture, dating from its redesign in 1885.

The garden of Vranyczany Park was designed after the model of Versailles and included a lake and an island. Vranyczany Park also preserves Baroque statues of Flora and a satyr, depicting mythological beings.

Franz Liszt stayed twice at the Vranyczany estate in 1846 and gave a concert for the local nobility.

Activities

In Park znanosti, the Mirror Labyrinth with six regularly arranged mirror walls creates an experience of multiple reflections. Park znanosti offers 60-minute guided tours for groups and organizes educational workshops based on active research, creative expression, play, and fun. Paintball DUM-DUM organizes recreational paintball in Oroslavje for individuals and organized groups. The paintball field in Mokrice, Oroslavje, covers more than 6,000 square meters and has more than 300 shelters.
