Culture and History

The historic spa and bathing complex of Stubičke Toplice was built between 1811 and 1814 by Zagreb Bishop Maksimilijan Vrhovac. St Catherine Chapel on Kapelščak is listed as a preventive-protected cultural asset. It was built in 1814 by Bishop Maksimilijan Vrhovac for the nearby spa and serves as a parish church.

Bethlehem Cave, featuring a permanent exhibition of nativity scenes and the Tomb of Christ, is located in the park of St Catherine Parish Church.

Nature and Trails

Vladimir Horvat built the 500 stone steps of Horvatove Stube by hand between 1946 and 1953. From Pila in Stubičke Toplice, Horvatove Stube can be reached by a one-hour hike. The Horvatove Stube area contains karst caves, shafts, sinking streams, rocks, sinkholes and karren.

The Kamenjak Historical and Educational Trail is 1,200 metres long and has an elevation difference of 87 metres. It features rest areas and educational panels about local biodiversity and can be used for outdoor school activities. The trail leads to the Galženjak Oak, a protected natural monument associated in local oral tradition with the 1573 peasant revolt.

Jarki Sports and Recreation Lake is used for recreation in nature, angling tourism and outdoor school activities. It can be reached on foot via historic Kapelščak and along a forest road, and is located in the forests of Medvednica Nature Park. A wooden fishing hut beside Jarki Lake is available for various activities.

Cycling and Events

The Stubičke Toplice cycling route is 10 kilometres long. It is an easy circular ride that starts in the centre of Stubičke Toplice.

The summer Mali Ulični Festival is a street art event featuring performances, workshops and music.
