Pavlovec Zabočki: Hotels and Accommodations

The Ksaverova staza is a 4-kilometer hiking trail from Zaboky Selo to Picelj. It begins at the Kapelica Majke Božje in Pavlovec Zabočki. As an educational hiking trail, it runs over the hills above Gredice and follows paths once used by the writer Ksaver Šandor Gjalski. Culture

The Kapelica Majke Božje stands next to the main road in Pavlovec, by the Sitnica stream. Older residents date its construction to around 1890 and name Petar Tomek as its founder. In the parish’s traditional Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, the chapel is included as the thirteenth station.

The Kapelica Majke Božje was extensively restored in 1997 and is described as needing further restoration. Gjalski Castle in Gredice Zabočke is described as the residence of the writer Ksaver Šandor Gjalski.

Nearby is Gredice Castle, between Gubaševo and Pavlovec-Zabočki. The castle was built around 1772 on the site of a 16th-century manor house, reconstructed in the 1990s, and now houses Hotel Dvorac Gjalski.

Also nearby is Gjalski Castle in Gredice Zabočke; it houses the Gjalski Castle Hotel and Restaurant. The nearby Dvorac Gjalski restaurant offers home-style cuisine associated with the flavors of Hrvatsko Zagorje. The Gjalski Castle Hotel has a wine shop, seminar rooms, and a large summer terrace with a children’s park in the castle grounds.

Local Life

Zaboky Selo consists of three cottages with terraces surrounding a large courtyard. It is intended for weddings and themed bachelorette parties. According to reports, Zaboky Selo also offers event catering featuring local ingredients from family farms and dishes prepared according to traditional local recipes.

In 2025, OPG Milana Deaka in Pavlovec-Zabočki housed two wallaby kangaroos. They became a small attraction visited daily by people.

Geographical Location

The ŽC2195 runs through Pavlovec Zabočki along the Zabok–Gubaševo–Veliko Trgovišće corridor. The village of Zaboky Selo provides a direct form for reservations and bookings.
