Culture and history

In the center of Brinje, a stone bridge built in 1801 crosses the Gate-Jaruga stream on Jozefinska Street. It is equipped with a sundial and a stone sphere.

The Gothic Chapel of St. Vid is located near the center of Brinje at the foot of Humac Hill. It dates from the 14th century and preserves stone coats of arms attributed to the Frankopan and Divinski families.

The permanent collection of Brinje's folk cultural heritage displays more than 1,200 objects from the areas of domestic life, food, clothing, crafts, education, customs and tools, as well as other aspects of local material culture. Prior registration is required for a visit.

The surrounding area of Brinje is home to Gajina Pećina, Baklajin Vrh, Velika Greda, Sljimešce and Sveti Petka.
