Mursko Središće: Hotels and Accommodation
Mursko Središće showcases its mining history at specific sites and combines it with the Mura Promenade, nature trails, and a regular cultural program. The town's features range from the Spomen-dom rudarstva to historical evidence, events, and facilities along the river.
Culture
The Spomen-dom rudarstva is housed in the building of a former coal-sorting plant. It was founded to preserve, protect, and promote the mining heritage. The mining area displays hoppers for coal classification, mining tools, old photographs, and documents. The exhibition is complemented by multimedia presentations and simulated chambers of mine tunnels. The Spomen-dom rudarstva can be visited by prior telephone appointment.
The miner sculpture Rudar Ivek stands on the St. Barbara Promenade as a permanent tribute to the city's miners. Rudar Ivek is designed as an interactive experience: visitors can sit beside him, take photographs, and read an information panel about the local mining heritage.
The CZK Rudar regularly offers film, theater, and music programs in Mursko Središće. Dan rudara is a traditional town event. The traditional children's amateur theater festival “Murski patuljci” is also held here. The miners' monument was erected in the central park in 1952. The parish church of St. Ladislaus the King and St. Stephen dates from 1820, while the group of wayside shrines of the Holy Trinity dates back to 1807.
Nature
The town's Mura Promenade offers opportunities for walking and cycling. Its features include the Curek drinking-water spring, informational displays and panels, sculptures, seating areas for resting, a large children's playground, a summer stage, a shelter, and outdoor exercise equipment. The Mura Educational Trail was created by connecting the promenades of Sveti Martin Na Muri and Mursko Središće.
Along the Mura Educational Trail, panels explain Fusek as well as the plant and animal life at the river locations. In the nearby area, a ferry crossing on the Mura provides access to the natural areas of Napolitanke and Mali Balaton.
Skela Fusek is designated as one of the tourism products of Mursko Središće. Mursko Središće lies on the Čakovec–Lendava road and railway route; anyone wishing to book a hotel in Mursko Središće can then continue searching for accommodation.
