Drenje is located on the eastern foothills of the Krndija, along the road connecting Äakovo with the Mandićevac wine-growing area and the Borovik excursion area. The settlement is described as a typical Slavonian village extending along a main road with two side streets and two sokaks.
Nature
The natural lake Kosinac is located 200 meters from Drenje and is surrounded by nature and greenery. Kosinac covers approximately 50 hectares, reaches a depth of 7 meters, and is about 1 kilometer long. West of Drenje lies Borovik, an artificial lake created in 1978 by damming the riverbed of the Vuka. Borovik covers approximately 160 hectares and is promoted as a carp-fishing destination; carp weighing up to 30 kilograms are also mentioned.
Trails
The VuÄje Glave–Borovik hiking section is 8 kilometers long, takes approximately 2 hours, and has an elevation difference of 80 meters. The Planinarski dom Borovik can accommodate up to 20 hikers or scouts and is open by arrangement. The Borovik Mountain Lodge is checkpoint KT-16 on the Slavonski Planinarski Put and is located next to the road to Lake Borovik.
Cycling
The Od Drenja do Borovika cycling route runs from Drenje via Mandićevac to Lake Borovik and into the forests of the Krndija. Its starting point is located in front of the Drenje municipal office.
History
A document from 1406 mentions the Drenje hill under the name Drenowch mons. A document from 1434 records Drenje as an episcopal estate. Before Ottoman rule, Drenje had a church dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian.
Culture
The Church of St. Michael is located in the present-day settlement of Drenje. The 28th Susreti prijateljstva in Drenje, held on June 5 and 6, 2026, included sports, cultural performances, gastronomy, and entertainment. The cultural and sporting event originated in 1976; its stated purposes include preserving and promoting local cultural heritage and traditions.
