The Vinski Bor Marathon has been organized in Zmajevac for almost 20 years. Near Zmajevac, the Baranja Wine & Walk Route runs between Suza and Zmajevac through Surduks and vineyards. The route is about nine kilometers long and combines hiking with wine and gastronomic stops.

The Surduci in Baranja are characteristic wine paths with a developed gastronomic offering. The oldest gatori in Baranja date back to the 17th and 18th centuries.

Culture and History

Vinarium – borarium in Zmajevac is a collection of 125 traditional winemaking and viticulture objects listed as protected cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia. It can be visited by prior arrangement.

The Vinoteka i Zavičajni muzej Baranyai Julia preserves around 3,000 local-history exhibits, including the shared Croatian-Hungarian cultural heritage.

Zmajevac originated from the Roman colony of Ad Novas and was mentioned in 1246 under the name Verusmorth. The remains of a 24-sided fortress were found on Varheđ Hill near Zmajevac.

The Ekoturistički posjetiteljski centar in Zmajevac is described as an educational and interactive visitor center.

Trails and Landscape

The Pannonian Peace Path leads from Suza via Zmajevac to Batina and, after crossing the state border, continues to Sombor.

Six tourist trails form a circular route that begins at tourist destinations such as Zmajevac.

The Baranjska Čarolija recreational area offers golf courses, paintball, and quad bike rentals.
