The protected cultural heritage in Općina Dvor includes Kaštel Gvozdansko, Stari grad Zrin, the ruins of the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Zrin, and the Church of the Great Martyr George in Dvor. This church at Trg bana Josipa Jelačića 23 is classified as protected immovable cultural property.
Stari grad Zrin is a layered archaeological site with traces of prehistoric pottery and was a medieval fortified noble town associated with the Babonići and Zrinski families. Kaštel Gvozdansko was built in the 15th century to protect silver and lead mines and a mint. Because of the preservation of its historic structures and its role in defending Croatian territory against Ottoman attacks, the fortress is of national importance. The Chapel of St Mary Magdalene in Zrin is described as an exceptionally well-preserved example of late Gothic ecclesiastical architecture in Banija and is of national importance.
Historic Dvor developed as a Military Frontier settlement around a central square park and military administration buildings. The settlement was formerly called Podovi and received the name Dvor after Emperor Joseph II visited and stayed there in 1775.
The Knjižnica i čitaonica Dvor is a cultural centre for the town and municipality. It has an area of 300 square metres with sections for children, multimedia, adults, study, reading and exhibitions.
The project for the educational trail to Lebrenica was completed on 31 December 2023. The trail leads to the fortification of Lebrenica, also known as Laudanov šanac. In the forest of Lebrenica, Laudonov šanac is registered as an archaeological site dating from the late 18th century and is described as a valuable natural and cultural heritage site.
Dani Zrinskih in Zrin is a living-history programme with a medieval fair, historical exhibition and educational workshops.
Nature
The meadows on the left bank of the Una Valley are important for the presence of wetland birds during spring and autumn migration as well as in winter. Zrinska gora within Općina Dvor belongs to the ecological network and has preserved target species.
The Ljeskovac Canyon near Gornja Stupnica is described as the largest and richest example of a particular type of ophiolitic vegetation in Croatia; it includes species not known anywhere else in Croatia.
Geographical location
Road transport predominates in the Dvor area. Rail access is limited, and there is no bus route connecting Dvor with Volinja railway station.
