Ilok: Hotels and Accommodation

Ilok combines a medieval old town with the banks of the Danube, historic religious buildings, wine-making traditions and cycling routes through the countryside. Anyone wishing to book a hotel in Ilok can continue their accommodation search afterwards.

Culture

Odescalchi Castle is the central building of Ilok’s medieval old town. The castle houses the Ilok Town Museum, which offers interested visitors expert-guided tours of the permanent exhibition. The collection includes an archaeological department, a medieval department, an ethnographic department and a gallery, an atrium serving as an open-air museum, as well as departments dedicated to the wars of the 20th century and the ethnography of Syrmia.

The Church and Monastery of Saint John of Capistrano preserve the saint’s original chapel cell, which pilgrims and other visitors can view. From a height of around 100 metres, the monastery tower offers views of the surrounding area.

The Kurija Brnjaković houses the “Ilok – vrata Hrvatske” Interpretation Centre.

Nature

Ilok’s restored, illuminated and flower-planted Danube promenade offers views of the Danube as well as the old town, its church and its city walls. The Dunavac branch of the Danube lies between the Danube and Ilok’s old town, which is situated on a hill, and invites visitors to enjoy relaxation, sports and nature.

Wine

The Old Cellars of Ilok next to Odescalchi Castle offer guided tours through parts of the cellar complex and can arrange tastings as well as cold or hot dishes on request. In the Ilok area, visitors can explore traditional Srijem cellars or modern wineries, learn about wine production, taste wine and enjoy a snack.

Cycling

Ilok is part of the European cycling route along the Danube; the Croatian section of this tourist Danube cycling route is 138 km long. The signposted off-road route “Put vinograda” branches off from EuroVelo 6 into the countryside and vineyards between Vukovar and Šarengrad/Ilok.
