Culture and history

Križ is home to the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. It is a protected cultural monument and is already mentioned in records from 1334. Its present-day Baroque appearance dates back to a restoration in the 17th century; at the same time, it is described as the best-preserved medieval building in the surrounding area.

The church also has a Baroque organ dating from 1787. It was restored in 1909 and is described as one of the oldest and best-preserved organs in Croatia.

The protected historic center of Križ also includes a park from the late 19th century. It is attributed to the landscape gardener Viteslav Durchanek, who is also associated with Zagreb's Lenuci Horseshoe and the Botanical Garden.
