History and Remembrance

Bratina is home to the “Titanic 100” Spomen kuća, a themed park and a birch avenue commemorating local resident Stjepan Turčin and the thirty Croatian emigrants who were passengers on the Titanic. The house displays documents, photographs and objects related to the Titanic. In front of the house stands a small bow section bearing the inscription “Titanic”; the building was constructed in the traditional wooden architecture of the area. The Titanic 100 memorial site also includes a memorial to the Carpathia, the ship that came to the rescue and saved 712 Titanic passengers.

Culture and Tradition

The folk tradition in Bratina dates back to the 1930s; in 1935, the first branch was founded there under the name “Sloga”.

The KUD “Bratinečko srce” is regarded as a custodian of the tradition of Croatian family cooperatives and is a member of the International Union of Folklore Groups (IGF), based in Nice, France.

Cultural and artistic associations in Bratina preserve the tradition of the Jurjevčani procession and the lighting of a bonfire.

Nature and Leisure

The Krašograd Eco Park in Bratina is surrounded by nature. Visitors can see domestic and wild animals there and take part in sports and leisure activities. The park has tennis and volleyball courts, a football pitch and a bocce court.
