Pušća: Hotels and accommodations

Pušća combines sites of cultural and historical significance with paths on Crikveni brijeg and along the Lužnica. Pušća’s cultural heritage attractions include Kurija Rauch, the old school building, and the late Baroque statue of Saint Florian.

Culture

The old school building in Donja Pušća was constructed in 1913 and features decorative details from the late Secession period. The Church of St. George stands on a plateau above Donja Pušća. It was built in the 18th century and renovated in the 19th century.

On the hill above the parish church in Donja Pušća stands the Chapel of Our Lady of Čisle. It was built in the 18th or 19th century in the Baroque Classicist style and contains valuable Baroque furnishings, including an altar dating from 1772. The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Čisle in Pušća preserves one of the most valuable ecclesiastical interiors in northern Croatia.

The late Baroque stone statue of Saint Florian in Pušća is one of the few statues still preserved in the wider Zagreb area and is of cultural and historical value. It was erected in 1778 on property belonging to the noble Hadrovica family from Žlebec at the time. The original is located in the Pušća Municipal Council building; a replica was installed on 13 May 1995.

Paths

The “Staza života” runs along the slope of Crikveni brijeg in Pušća, from the parish church of St. George to the Church of Our Lady of Čisle. A viewpoint was built along the “Staza života” at the highest point of Crikveni brijeg. The “Staza života” is signposted in Donja Pušća.

The cycling and walking path along the Lužnica stream is approximately 5.8 kilometres long and connects Pušća with Zaprešić. The path is three metres wide and allows cyclists and pedestrians to pass each other. The “Crvena ruta” cycling route is a 29-kilometre circular route through the Zaprešić area and combines paved and gravel surfaces.

Local life

Pušća is associated with a wine festival, an agricultural market, and tastings of local products at the Pušćanska salamijada and špekijada.
