Rakotule: Hotels and accommodations

Rakotule is a group of smaller villages and hamlets. When approaching from the main road, the stone bell tower of the parish church is visible; Motovun can also be seen from several places in Rakotule.

Culture

The parish church of St. Roch preserves a stone niche decorated with a relief dating from 1560, as well as a visible Romanesque apse arch. It most likely dates from the period when the Rakotule parish was first mentioned, in 1580.

The Church of St. Magdalene and St. Blaise is located in Pahovići (Konobari) in Rakotule. It was built in the 12th century and later remodeled several times. St. Nicholas was built in the 14th century and extended in the front section in the 15th century. Its interior preserves frescoes depicting the Maiestas Domini and scenes from the legends of Saint Nicholas.

A fragment of a fresco from the original parish church of St. Roch was discovered in 1958 and is kept in the Diocesan Museum in Poreč.

Paths

The Parenzana crosses the Rakotule–Špinovci road near the Sv. Vital or Veli Most viaduct. A car can be parked there; from there, it is possible to walk approximately 2.5 km in the direction of Vižinada.

The Parenzana is a sporting and recreational route on a restored section of the historic railway line that connected Poreč and Trieste.

Local character

OPG Anton Kramar continues a beekeeping tradition in Rakotule that is more than 100 years old. The celebration in honor of Saint Blaise is described as an annual event held in February, accompanied by exhibitions of wine, honey, and homemade bread.
