Dajla: Hotels and Accommodation

Dajla lies along the official, 31.7 km-long, easy and paved bicycle loop “From Neapolis to Novigrad”. The route passes through Karigador and Dajla and then returns along the coast towards Novigrad. Those wishing to book a hotel in Dajla can continue their accommodation search afterwards.

Coast and Nature

Access to Dajla-Belveder Beach has been adapted for people with reduced mobility. Dajla-Belveder is connected to the Green Beaches programme in Novigrad-Cittanova; a charging station for e-bikes is connected to Green Beach Dajla Belveder in Novigrad-Cittanova.

Culture and History

The Villa / Cloister in Dajla stands on the seafront. It acquired its present appearance in 1839 under the French architect Le Terrier de Manetot and features a French Neoclassical appearance unique in Istria.

The Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist within the Dajla villa complex was consecrated in 1783. The parish church of St. John the Baptist in Dajla was built between 1763 and 1903 in the Late Baroque-Neoclassical style.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Grace stands on Cape Belvedere near the end of Dajla Bay and was built in 1912. The Grisoni estate in Dajla is a U-shaped, three-winged Neoclassical building; its courtyard chapel was built in 1763 and inspired a twin chapel in the opposite wing.

The coast of Dajla contains the remains of several Roman villas, inscriptions, and tombs. Dajla also has the remains of an Early Christian basilica from the 6th century, including remnants of floor mosaics. The Dajla Monastery is a protected cultural heritage site.

Cycling and Wine
