Gedići: Hotels and accommodations

Gedići: Baredine Cave is a karst phenomenon and a geomorphological natural monument. Those wishing to book a hotel in Gedići can continue their accommodation search afterward.

Nature

The guided tour of Baredine Cave lasts approximately 40 minutes and follows a 300-metre-long path through five chambers to an underground lake 60 metres below the surface. Visitors can see the olm, Proteus anguinus, an amphibian endemic to the Dinaric karst region.

Culture

The Traktor Story exhibition presents the development of grain threshing before and after the mechanisation of agriculture – from threshing floors through threshing machines and combine harvesters to tractors. It displays around fifty vintage tractors and agricultural machines in the original condition in which they were last used in the fields. As part of Traktor Story, visitors can also sample local products.

The Speleo Gallery and Geological Column introduces visitors to geology, speleology and palaeontology and provides educational information about protected tourist speleological sites in Istria and Croatia. It also presents unusual underground fauna and prehistoric traces of human activity underground.

The Geological Column displays Istria’s above-ground geological layers: from limestone formed 165 million years ago in a coral sea, through Cretaceous layers to terra rossa.

Activities

Speleolit is a rope-climbing training ground where visitors can try out cave-climbing techniques and discover the underground world. Speleolit’s climbing activity is open both to larger groups and to individuals at the outdoor climbing wall.

Speleo Adventure lets participants descend by lamplight, equipped for caving, into a world of stalactites and stalagmites.

Routes

NC 056 connects ŽC 50046 with ŽC 5041 and runs for 1.75 km along asphalt and gravel roads through Gedići and Parencani. NC 057 Baredine is a 750-metre-long gravel road connecting ŽC 5041 with Baredine Cave.

Cycling

Gedići is included in the 155 Giro di Parenzo cycling loop. The 51-km easy circular route follows quiet roads through vineyards, olive groves and meadows, continuing from Gedići to Baredine.
