Cycling

Roveria is a 14.9 km circular route with 8.6 km of gravel and 6.3 km of asphalt. It connects Juršići with Sv. Kirin; after Sveti Kirin, it leads through fields and forests to Cukrići and then uphill back to Juršići. The route is easy and suitable for families as well as trekking bikes, e-bikes, and mountain bikes.

The Roveria route leads from Juršići to the Chapel of St. Quirinus. Along its course, it crosses a preserved natural landscape whose name derives from the Italian word for oak. The Chapel of St. Quirinus on the Roveria route was built in 1730 on the site of an earlier early Christian basilica with one nave and two side aisles.

Culture and History

In the Middle Ages, the parish area of Juršići was known as Sv. Kvirin and had a fortress and a church. After the plague of 1630, the parish area was resettled under Venetian rule by Croatian families from Dalmatia.

The parish church of St. Francis of Assisi in Juršići was built in 1874 and consecrated in 1875. An 18-meter-high bell tower with two bells is integrated into it. It is the church where Blessed Miroslav Bulešić was baptized; it is also associated with the annual feast of St. Francis on October 4.

The nearby Church of St. Quirinus was remodeled as a single-nave Baroque chapel and received a portico in 1629. The Church of St. Quirinus is the surviving central nave of a three-nave early Christian basilica from the 6th century.
