Nature and Trails

Several trails start directly in Čavle. The Čavle–Podrvanj–Grad Grobnik hiking route starts on foot in front of the Dom kulture Čavle and is 6.5 kilometres long each way. The Staza sv. Bartola starts in the centre of Čavle and follows the route Čavle–Cernik–Cernički vrh–Čavle. The Hodeć do grada Grobnika trail is an easy 9.5-kilometre route starting in the centre of Čavle.

There are also accessible climbing formations near Čavle at Vela Peša, with routes suitable for beginners and climbing schools. At nearby Mali Kamenjak, there are marked hiking approaches and rocky climbing routes. Platak is a year-round skiing and outdoor area with hiking, walking and cycling routes, located about twenty minutes by car from the centre of the Čavle municipality.

The Biciklistička transverzala Riječkog prstena passes through Čavle. It continues via Cernik and along the ridge above Sušačka Draga to Sveti Kuzam.

Landscape

The Staza sv. Bartola includes the Cernički križni put; its stations are written in the Grobnik Chakavian dialect. Cernički vrh is marked by three large concrete crosses and offers views over Grobnišćina and the Bay of Rijeka.

Čebuharova kuća, a historic and tourist landmark, stands in the centre of Čavle. The Grobnički dondolaši preserve a bell-ringing tradition associated with the carnival season in the area around Čavle.
